Pre-paid Legal Recruiting and Business Opportunity: The Prepaid Legal Scam Business Review

Prepaid Legal is indeed a unique network marketing company with an innovative product.  However, many people who are searching for a business opportunity may wonder about the Pre-paid Legal recruiting process and whether or not it is right for them.  If you are one of these people you may also be wondering if the rumors about the Prepaid legal scam are true.  This review will help you decide if you should proceed or just move on.

Company:

Prepaid Legal Services started in 1979 as a publicly traded company after life insurance salesman, Harland Stonecipher, experienced a serious car accident which bombarded him with thousands of dollars in legal expenses.  This led him to want to provide others with legal expense reimbursement plans through the Prepaid Legal company.

Product:

Independent distributors with Prepaid Legal market and sell legal insurance plans for future legal needs.  To obtain coverage the new member and plan owner would pay a membership fee and premium rates.  A person can become a Prepaid Legal independent distributor for a fee of $49 which enables them to market the legal plans to either individual people, families, or business entities.

Pre-paid Legal Recruiting, Opportunity and Compensation:

Prepaid Legal is a network marketing company and pays commissions of $69 to $250 any time a person sponsors or recruits a new person into their business.  A person earns an income with Prepaid Legal by recruiting new people people to also sell legal insurance plans either through presentations to friends and family or via cold-calling leads.

Conclusion:

From what I can observe with this company, Prepaid Legal is not a scam, but a legitimate network marketing company with a viable product and service.  If you foresee a personal need for a significant amount of legal services, then this business may be something you should pursue.  Although if you are not looking to recruit person after person in order to earn an income, then you may wish to continue your search for a more automated online system which will provide you with the training and tools that you will need to brand yourself and a more lucrative compensation plan that will allow people to come to you because of your strategic and successful online marketing tactics.

How can I offer pre-paid gas cards to my employees as a “benefit”?

I’d like to offer $100 prepaid gas cards to my employees every month and structure it as a tax free benefit.
I’d pay less as an employer and they would get the gas card with “pre tax” dollars.

In the end, a $100 gas card, instead of cash compensation, would be like the employee receiving $120-$135 post tax dollars.

Any LEGAL ideas?

I don’t think it can be considered “tax free”. It is additional compensation.
