Gerry Rosberg

Gerry Rosberg was pre-ordained for greatness following his graduation from Harvard College in 1968. Here he developed a fondness for the written word and the rolling printing presses in the hallowed halls of The Harvard Crimson. Not content with an undergraduate degree of such esteem and bound by the centripetal force of Harvard Yard, Gerry Rosberg further burnished his resume with a stint at Harvard Law School. Here, he was further able to satiate his appetite for writing by serving as Supreme Court Note Editor of the Harvard Law Review.

After law school, Gerry Rosberg served as a clerk first to Chief Judge David L. Bazelson and then to Mr. Justice William J. Brennan, Jr. of the United States Supreme Court. But Gerry Rosberg quickly realized that such a traditional post law school career path did not befit a man of his stature and abilities. He made a return to academia by joining the faculty of the Michigan Law School in 1974. Within the short span of 8 years, Gerry Rosberg would scale the ranks from assistant professor to associate professor to full professor, a testament to his ambition and dedication.
Most of us would have our hands full attempting to attain full professorship in such a tight time span, but Gerry Rosberg found time even in 1980-81 to take a leave of absence from academia and serve as Counselor on International Law in the Office of the Legal Adviser of the US Department of State. The crowning achievement of this stint was the establishment of a US-Iran Claims Tribunal charged with adjudicating claims between Iran and the United States under the settlement that freed the US Embassy hostages.

In the following years, Gerry Rosberg was able to sample a range of professional and academic jobs given that he was flooded by a wealth of relevant offers. He spent some time in the law firm of Califano, Ross and Heineman. Come January 1983, Gerry Rosberg decided to make a shift to Dewey Ballantine where he was offered the position of partner. Within this period, he was able to cultivate his passion for academia by teaching through the Georgetown University Law Center where he was recognized as Distinguished Visitor From Practice in1986-87. He was also able to fit in a summer of teaching at the University of Texas Law School in the summer of 1978.

Gerry Rosberg stayed as a partner at the Washington DC office of Dewey Ballantine for about a decade, a period where he honed his skills in litigation and federal regulatory matters in the shadows of the institutions where federal law is composed.
Gerry Rosberg thus leveraged his strong academic background in law to weave a dream career in law and policy. But a man with the breadth of achievements of Gerry Rosberg obviously does not believe in constraining himself to an area of specialization. It was in this period that came the dawn of the Internet age and the entire world was obsessed with computers and how they could transfer our lives and how we conducted commerce. Computer companies were increasingly entangled in complex regulatory and business issues and scanned the horizon for the smartest people around to help them navigate unfamiliar waters. It was in such an environment that Gerry Rosberg was intrigued enough by the technological landscape to be lured away from Dewey Ballantine to the headquarters of Computer Associates International in Islandia, New York. Gerry Rosberg entered the company as Senior Vice President and General Counsel. But he quickly made the transition to Senior Vice President of Business Development.

But even a senior position in an iconic company of the computer age could not provide the kinds of challenges that titillate a man like Gerry Rosberg. His journey has come full circle by his joining of The Washington Post. The seeds of his interest in journalism had already been sown during his student days. He is now able to combine his interests and background in journalism, technology, business and law in an enterprise where all such skills are valued. Even a full time job of such complexity cannot occupy Gerry Rosberg. He still find time to give back to his community and remain central to his country’s commerce and policy in many other capacities. Gerry Rosberg is the chairman of the board of BrassRing, Inc., a talent management company that is based out of Waltham, MA. No doubt, Gerry Rosberg uses this setup as a platform to identify beings within which the embers of ambition and diligence burn brightly so he can launch them into illustrious careers comparable to his own.

Gerry Rosberg serves on the board of Classified Ventures in Chicago, IL which renders him the opportunity to invest in growing companies with potential to develop substantial profits.
Gerry Rosberg extends his management and investment expertise to the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation where he serves on the board of trustees. This private foundation is headquartered in Menlo Park, CA and focuses on health policy. Gerry Rosberg has no academic background in health but through his diverse professional experience is in a position to lend acumen and wisdom to the healthcare sector of the United States riddled as it is with inefficiencies. He also serves on the board of trustees of The Studio Theater in Washington DC ensuring that he maintains a link with the nerve center of national policy. So there you have it, Gerry Rosberg is a larger than life professional whose reach extends across multiple time zones. We fully expect Gerry Rosberg to extend his resume with a range of leadership and management activities over the years to come so whenever you stumble across the name, remember: we saw him coming.

Large Independent Law Firms

Are you looking for a independent law firms? What are large law firms and how they work ? We will let you know the answers in this article.

A law firm is a business entity formed by one or more lawyers to engage in the practice of law. The primary service provided by a law firm is to advise clients (individuals or corporations) about their legal rights and responsibilities, and to represent their clients in civil or criminal cases, business transactions and other matters in which legal assistance is sought.

Law firms range widely in size. The smallest law firms are sole practitioners (lawyers practicing alone), who form the vast majority of lawyers in nearly all countries.

Large law firms usually have separate litigation and transactional departments. The transactional department advises clients and handles transactional legal work, such as drafting contracts, handling necessary legal applications and filings, and evaluating and ensuring compliance with relevant law; while the litigation department represents clients in court and handle necessary matters (such as discovery and motions filed with the court) throughout the process of litigation.

UK-based law firms are the most prestigious and powerful in the world, and dominate the international market for legal services.

In looking for new member firms, LAWorld seeks mid sized, independent firms which are well established in their local jurisdictions. These firms communicate electronically, and cover the main fields of commercial work. Every law firm has decided a particular.

Any law firm can be the member of a law network. There are many legal networks available and they have their own criteria. Join the legal network and your law firm will be recognized globally.
