I live in WI. I’ve never heard that WI has much in the way of gold deposits. If you really want to pan for gold, it’ll take research. You’ll have to find out where in wisconsin the mostly likely areas and streams to find it might be. Heaven knows how you’d do that. Maybe up north.
Good Luck.
LOTS & LOTS of GOLD colored CHEESE!!
Not very likely. Gold needs certain things that are not normally present in Wisconsin. That does not mean it could not happen, but it is not very likely.
There are gold deposits in Wisconsin. Glacial end morains contain gold left behind as the glaciers receded. Streams flowing through these morains wash this gold downstream into placer deposits. Researching glacier and stream movement through the state will lead you to these deposits. There are people who have done the research and will gladly share that information with you.
There are 3 Gold Prospectors Association of America(GPAA) chapters in Wisconsin, check this site and follow the links to contact them for more information. Most chapters have “common digs” where the members work together digging and equally share the gold they find. Try one of these digs, you will learn a lot and get some gold. We are having a huge event labor day weekend at my chapter in northern Ohio, and you are invited to check it out . My name is Pat and I am hosting the 3 common digs we are having.
Don’t get discouraged, when you find that first teenie speck, you’ll be hooked.
